I’m Ankur Singh. Beat Collider is the working alias I record and play under.
I grew up in India, studied computer science, and spent three years at CERN in Geneva — 2020 to 2023, as a Computing Fellow. The work was infrastructure, not physics. I wrote automation for the batch cluster that handled first-pass data processing for ATLAS and a few other experiments — useful, behind-the-scenes, mostly invisible. I started spending my evenings in Geneva clubs to balance it out, then with a controller, then with friends who DJed.
By late 2022 I was playing in apartments and at occasional open decks. In June 2023 I played the Summer Solstice Festival in Verbier — a private Alpine festival of about a hundred people and ten or so DJs. I played a 90-minute back-to-back with Ersch, a Hungarian friend, then a 90-minute solo set of deep, progressive, and melodic house and techno. It was the first time I held a room sober for that long. I came back to Bangalore later that year wanting to take it seriously.
Bangalore is where the sound found its shape. I started spending evenings at a local studio, learning from a DJ and producer based here whose name I’ll keep out of this. He taught me the mixing technique I now build sets around. After a health setback in mid-2025, I returned to the booth on 27 September — opening at Aqua, The Park, on the MadLab series, with a 7 PM tech house set at 126 BPM. Sober. The promoters asked me back.
The current sound is tech house, melodic house and techno, and stutter house, in the 125 to 145 BPM band, vocal-forward, with edits I cut myself. I also work on visuals. In 2023 I built an AI-generated animated music video for the Pink Floyd 50-year visualisation competition — chaining language models, image generators, and audio-reactive tools — and it earned an honourable mention. Visuals remain part of how I think about sets. The long-term goal is an AV practice where what you hear and what you see run on the same source material.
Available for shows in India through 2026. International from 2027.
